You can make all kinds of veggie burgers using any kind of beans. I will give you the basic idea,
and then world will open up to you.
Start with your bean varieties:
2 cups of your favorite, black, pinto, white, green lentils, chick peas, etc
1 cup of one: rice, brown rice, wild rice, quinoa, or other grain cooked
Mix and mash these up well.
1/2 cup onion cut up
2 cloves garlic minced
2 tbsp ketchup or bbq sauce
1 or 2 eggs depending on whether they are large or small
1/2 cup corn (optional) other veggies can be used too
2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 cup rolled oats (quick oats) if you use regular oats, then add a bit more liquid like another egg, or a bit of water
1/2 cup of one of these: flour, bread crumbs, bean flour, oat flour, rice flour
Mix all of these together well and form into patties. Fry in oil, or if you have a smaller grill, you can even BBQ these. Make sure they are holding together nicely as a patty before you start cooking them. If they aren’t, then maybe add another egg, or consider mashing them a bit more.
Some of the other things you could consider adding to these burgers would include: Parmesan cheese, grated cheddar cheese, crushed soda crackers, taco seasoning mix, Italian seasoning mix, really the world is open when you are making veggie burgers. Serve these on a nice home made hamburger bun with lettuce and other hamburger trimmings. You can also take this mix and fry it in a fry pan and crumble it as you fry to use it as a veggie hamburger to use in other recipes.
